Waveguide lab: a HUD that does not turn glasses into a headset

Q4 2026 is the optical stack. A transparent waveguide, outdoor brightness, a light UI only when it is needed.

Waveguide lab: a HUD that does not turn glasses into a headset

The most visible part of Smartocule is the one that should stay invisible. A waveguide in the lens holds cues, navigation and translation in the field of view without covering the world with a matte slab.

In the Limassol lab we are assembling the optical stack: about 30° field of view, outdoor readability, a thin graphite UI. The job of Q4 2026 is not to “draw an interface”, it is to get glass you can wear all day.

We are deliberately not building a headset. If the glasses look like a helmet, the product has already lost. The camera sits at the hinge, a 3 mm sapphire module. A recording indicator is mandatory: contextual capture must not be secret.

The next roadmap node is 2027 Q2: camera and on-device model in one frame. The optics we are aligning now have to survive that step without changing the geometry of a face.
